Designing My Wedding Invitations
Aside from cake tasting, the most exciting part of wedding planning for me was designing my own wedding invitations! As a graphic designer, there seems to be a bit of pressure to design your own suite. With a 7-month engagement, I was forced to make decisions quickly during wedding planning, which ended up being the best way for me to do it (I highly recommend shorter engagements for the more indecisive people!). I wanted my suite to be simple & clean, to incorporate calligraphy accents & to be tied together with a monogram logo.
I am a huge paper geek so letterpress printing was a MUST. I had my invitations printed on thick 220# bright white Savory by Igloo Letterpress, a wonderful little print shop right in my Worthington, OH neighborhood! The deep impressions on the paper left the most beautiful texture.
I designed a monogram logo not only to use in our invitations, but I incorporated the logo on everything - our programs, beer glass favors, welcome bags, website, etc! I ordered a custom stamp from simonstamp.com and stamped our logo on card stock, punched them out and tied them with baker's twine around our suite to package everything together. This made for a fun craft night with my hubby-to-be, who is now a fantastic twine tie-er ;) For the calligraphy, I used a shimmery pink ink on black envelopes. This was such a fun and exciting process and I couldn't be happier with how everything came together :)
